Today's Favorite Verse: Jeremiah 39:4

Today's Favorite Verse: Jeremiah 39:4
"And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the date betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain."

"Then they fled..." Zedekiah wouldn't listen to Jeremiah, until he saw with his own eyes prophecy being fulfilled. This is when he finally realizes he needs to flee. This plan didn't work. Zedekiah was captured, forced to watch them slay his sons. Then his eyes were put out. He was put in chains and carried to Babylon, where he later dies in prison.

The message I see is don't delay in listening to a prophet's voice. The Lord is always a step (or more) ahead of His people. The warning comes long before the danger appears. When we wait until we see it with our own eyes, the time for change is to late. It's the difference between staying out of the canyons when storms are threatening, or waiting for the flash flood to appear.
