Today's Favorite Verse: Romans 11:17-19

Today's Favorite Verse: Romans 11:17-19
"And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in."

As I'm reading this I'm thinking of Jacob 5, "The allegory of the tame and wild olive trees". Did Paul have the words of the prophet Zenos?

"And it came to pass that the master of the vineyard saw it, and he said unto his servant: It grieveth me that I should lose this tree; wherefore, go and pluck the branches from a wild olive tree, and bring them hither unto me; and we will pluck off those main branches which are beginning to wither away, and we will cast them into the fire that they may be burned.
And behold, saith the Lord of the vineyard, I take away many of these young and tender branches, and I will graft them whithersoever I will; and it mattereth not that if it so be that the root of this tree will perish, I may preserve the fruit thereof unto myself; wherefore, I will take these young and tender branches, and I will graft them whithersoever I will."
(Jacob 5:7-8)

Today's Favorite Verse: Zechariah 14:4

Today's Favorite Verse: Zechariah 14:4
"And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south."

I can actually picture the mount of Olives being cleaved in two. We had an example of that happening in February this year, during that devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The shaking was so violent that a canyon was created in the middle of an olive grove in Tepehan. It was 130 feet deep, 900 feet wide and more than a mile long. Another of God's warning voice to us.

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 52:8

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 52:8
"But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever."

What is a green olive tree? The footnote takes me to Jeremiah 11:16
"The Lord called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

I want to be considered a "green olive tree", fair and of goodly fruit.. I am learning to trust in the Lord's mercy for I see it has been extended to me over and over again. The more I look, the more I find how merciful He is to me. I just don't know how I would endure, if I did not have his mercy.
