Today's Favorite Verse: Mosiah 12:1-2

Today's Favorite Verse: Mosiah 12:1-2
"And it came to pass that after the space of two years that Abinadi came among them in disguise, that they knew him not, and began to prophesy among them, saying: Thus has the Lord commanded me, saying—Abinadi, go and prophesy unto this my people, for they have hardened their hearts against my words; they have repented not of their evil doings; therefore, I will visit them in my anger, yea, in my fierce anger will I visit them in their iniquities and abominations.
Yea, wo be unto this generation! And the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thy hand and prophesy, saying: Thus saith the Lord, it shall come to pass that this generation, because of their iniquities, shall be brought into bondage, and shall be smitten on the cheek; yea, and shall be driven by men, and shall be slain; and the vultures of the air, and the dogs, yea, and the wild beasts, shall devour their flesh."

I pondered on how the Lord gave king Noah and his people two years to repent. He sent Abinadi again to them to warn them. It would be in the current generation that they would be brought into bondage. Giving them time is being merciful, but eventually time runs out.

"Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."
(Amos 3:7)

"The original Hebrew word used in the Bible for secret literally means “counsel,” so it has to do with the Lord’s plans or intentions."
(New Era, "Line upon Line Amos 3:7", March 2012)

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Nephi 30:16

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Nephi 30:16
"Wherefore, the things of all nations shall be made known; yea, all things shall be made known unto the children of men."

I look forward to the day when "all things shall be made known".

"For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known."
(Luke 12:2)

"Yea, verily I say unto you, in that day when the Lord shall come, he shall reveal all things—
Things which have passed, and hidden things which no man knew, things of the earth, by which it was made, and the purpose and the end thereof—
Things most precious, things that are above, and things that are beneath, things that are in the earth, and upon the earth, and in heaven."
(Doctrine and Covenants 101:32-34)

Today's Favorite Verse: Malachi 4:4 & Endnote

Today's Favorite Verse: Malachi 4:4 & Endnote
"And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
THE END OF THE PROPHETS"

I just finished reading the Old Testament for the third time in my life. The first time I read it was in seminary which amounted to massive speed reading sessions to complete it in a year. It takes two and a half years to read the Old Testament a chapter a day. Needless to say my first time around I didn't understand very much of it. But I could say I read it. Since I began rotating through all the scriptures this was my second time reading it with understanding. I've learned so much, and there is still so very much to learn.

My favorite verse in this closing chapter of the Old Testament speaks to my heart and my love of family history work. It is a subject so dear to me. Yet, I noticed something at the very end. It says "THE END OF THE PROPHETS". When I read that I said to myself, "No it wasn't, there was much more to come, and still to come." Then as I was pondering on this I noticed the Citation Index had something new in it. A picture taken of the prophet Spencer W. Kimball's scriptures and this very verse. I started to read his notations and then I noticed the statement he made after the endnote "THE END OF THE PROPHETS". It's the word "NO". The Citation Index also reference his conference talk when he spoke on this.

"I believe the Bible. I love the Bible. It stimulates me. It lifts me. It inspires me. And, I never tire reading its pages.
There is one phrase that brings me up short as I finish the Book of Malachi. In bold type are these words, "THE END OF THE PROPHETS".  Regardless of what the compilers meant, I do not believe that Malachi was "the end of the prophets." As I finished the New Testament, I found once more in bold letters the words, "THE END" I do not believe that even the Book of Revelation was the end."
(Spencer W. Kimball, "Continuous Revelation", Oct 1966 General Conference)

I loved President Kimball, and every prophet that came after him. I love the living prophet Russell M. Nelson. I know there is still much to come.

"We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God."
(Article of Faith 1:9)

Today's Favorite Verse: Job 26:6

Today's Favorite Verse: Job 26:6
"Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering."

No matter what you have done and thought you have gotten away with or hidden, God knows the truth. He sees it all. I pondered on how the wicked have no covering, but the righteous do. The robe of righteousness, a garment made white and clean through the blood of the lamb would cloth our nakedness. To wear that you would have no sins to be revealed. The question is then, would I want to stand naked before God with all my sin revealed or clothed in white because I repented of them?

"Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels."
(Revelation 3:4-5)

"I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see."
(Revelation 3:18)

"Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
(Revelation 16:15)

"For behold, when ye shall be brought to see your nakedness before God, and also the glory of God, and the holiness of Jesus Christ, it will kindle a flame of unquenchable fire upon you."
(Mormon 9:5)

"Wherefore, we shall have a perfect knowledge of all our guilt, and our uncleanness, and our nakedness; and the righteous shall have a perfect knowledge of their enjoyment, and their righteousness, being clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness."
(2 Nephi 9:14)

"That our garments may be pure, that we may be clothed upon with robes of righteousness, with palms in our hands, and crowns of glory upon our heads, and reap eternal joy for all our sufferings."
(Doctrine and Covenants 109:76)

Today's Favorite Verse: Hosea 11:1

Today's Favorite Verse: Hosea 11:1
"When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt."

I know this verse is a similitude of the Lord, as a child coming out of Egypt after his parents fled Herod, with Joseph having been warned in a dream by an angel to do so.

"And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son."
(Matthew 2:15)

What this all made me ponder on is how the prophesies of Jesus Christ are so layered in the scriptures. What is there that I haven't noticed or learned yet? I wonder if it was the angel that told them this was fulfillment of Hosea's prophesy or was it the apostles that recognized it as such later? I won't know the answer to that, because more than likely it could be both. What I do recognize is how important it is to treasure up the scriptures, because when prophesy yet to to be fulfilled is revealed I will recognize it for what it is.

Today's Favorite Verse: Jeremiah 33:3

Today's Favorite Verse: Jeremiah 33:3
"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

The Lord shows Jeremiah marvelous things. The return of Israel after their captivity. The coming of the Messiah, and the return of the Jews again before his second coming. All of these things he did not know before. I pondered on how even in my little sphere, that in prayer I have my measure of knowing things, I never knew before. Much inspiration and revelation has come, as I have prayerfully read my scriptures every day for years. I have long since realized that the spirit never teaches me anything new. I am just seeing it in a different light. It is the understanding that is new to me. With that knowledge I am always lead to another witness of the same. Nothing is hiding, its only made understandable when I am ready.

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 7:15-16

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 7:15-16
"He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.
His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate."

This is the Lord's promise to the wicked. I have witnessed this happen. It is not a pretty sight. This is a principle the wicked never learn, because they think their deeds done in darkness will never come to light. The end justifies their means. How great a lie Satan has told them that follow him. The Book of Mormon speaks much of secret combinations and their evil deeds being exposed. It also destroyed their civilization. I think our nation today is in the midst of exposing such things. I have no idea where the truth lies for I absolutely have no trust in any of them. I make no judgment in what I see being revealed in the news. The spirit just whispers wait, because not everything has come to light. I think there will be much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth on all sides. If I stand with the Lord, and not in the arm of flesh, my world will not be shaken when everything comes to light.

Today's Favorite Verse: Job 37:5

Today's Favorite Verse: Job 37:5
"God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend."

Right now it is not meant for man to know all things. It is a time to have faith in God's plan and his words. I cannot comprehend how the earth was formed and the laws that govern this planet, but God knows, for he created them.

This made me ponder of what has been revealed of the coming millennium reign, during which there will be a thousand years of peace. Then is the time all things will be revealed.

"Yea, verily I say unto you, in that day when the Lord shall come, he shall reveal all things -
Things which have passed, and hidden things which no man knew, things of the earth, by which it was made, and the purpose and the end thereof-
Things most precious, things that are above, and things that are beneath, things that are in the earth, and upon the earth, and in heaven."
(Doctrine & Covenants 101:32-34)

How exciting it will be to have the veil lifted and be able to see and comprehend all the wondrous works of God. All those scientific inquiries will finally be answered, and they will all make sense.
