Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 126:3

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 126:3
"The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad."

I thought about how great things can also be very small and simple things. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

"And there was also written upon them a new writing, which was plain to be read, which did give us understanding concerning the ways of the Lord; and it was written and changed from time to time, according to the faith and diligence which we gave unto it. And thus we see that by small means the Lord can bring about great things."
(1 Nephi 16:29)

"Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise."
(Alma 37:6)

Today's Favorite Verse: Proverbs 10:24, 28

Today's Favorite Verse: Proverbs 10:24, 28
"The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish."

Pondering on these two verses I could see how they came together.

The wicked fear God in their own perverted way, for they are afraid to acknowledge him. In the end they will truly come to fear Him, for they will acknowledge on bended knee, the Savior Jesus Christ, is Lord and King. Their expectations then of controlling this world for gain has perishing with them.

Yet, the hope and desire of the righteous is eternal life. That is what will be granted to them. They will live in gladness.

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 118:24

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 118:24
"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

There have been times I wished I lived in a different age. I've always loved history and could easily live in the past. But, just yesterday when I was traveling in the car I thought about how grateful I was to live in this day. It is my day and I am glad of it. I'm sure that is why this verse stuck out to me in this chapter. The Lord made no mistake in the timing of my coming to earth.

I was made for this day. Living now is exactly what I need. Even when I see the wickedness and craziness in the world. I have to turn my face from them, even when I'm looking right at them. I just finished my 7 day social media fast and started to read posts and comments again on Facebook. I really am learning something about myself in being able to walk away from the multitude of voices. Not sure what I am seeing, but I know connections are forming. It's rather exciting when I know I am ready to be taught if I just listen, ponder and observe. These are exciting times to live in. The Lord is blessing his saints richly with the spirit. If we just turn to Him.

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 100:2

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 100:2
"Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing."

I pondered on "serve the Lord with gladness". How many stages have I gone through about serving? I know somethings I do now, I don't even consider them as serving. Where I once thought it asking a lot. It's just something I do to help in His kingdom. Can't say I'm always glad though, but I'm working on it. It would be such a lovely place to be, to be glad to serve. Truly that would show so much love for the Lord. I really want that attitude. Maybe with this desire I will be more observant about cultivating it.

I have to remember the words of king Benjamin "...when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17)

If I knew the Lord was standing there asking me to do something I would sing and be glad to do anything he asked. I need to picture Him more when I go about helping others. For it sounds like serving with gladness is needful to enter into his presence. He really is just standing there.

Day 1153

Today's Favorite Verse: D&C 128:19

Today's Favorite Verse: Doctrine & Covenants 128:19
"Now, what do we hear in the gospel which we have received? A voice of gladness! A voice of mercy from heaven; and a voice of truth out of the earth; glad tidings for the dead; a voice of gladness for the living and the dead; glad tidings of great joy. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that bring glad tidings of good things, and that say unto Zion: Behold, thy God reigneth! As the dews of Carmel, so shall the knowledge of God descend upon them!"

This chapter is an epistle from the Prophet Joseph Smith to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, containing further directions on baptisms for the dead. He is being pursued by his enemies and still in hiding. He says the subject of baptism for the dead "seems to occupy my mind, and press itself upon my feelings the strongest." As I was reading this I could not help but think of Moroni being in a similar position. He was having to hide from his enemies that sought to take his life, but what is pressing upon his mind is leaving a record for us. Does that not tell you where their hearts lie.

There are 25 verses, all so beautiful and powerful. So full of instructions and explanations. I had a hard time settling on only one. I could see inside the verses what Joseph learned at the start of his journey as a prophet has come full circle. The restoration is complete. All the keys have now been divinely restored. He is now putting the pieces together. The difference between Joseph and Moroni are the later saw the end of his civilization. He was writing to a further day, which is to all of us. Joseph knows the church and its people will go on. That rock will only continue to roll forth. There is a great work for us to do. This day truly is one to rejoice with gladness. I am so grateful I live at this time.
