Today's Favorite Verse: Romans 9:6 "Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:"
This made me reflect on how just because you are born into a righteous family or into the church it does not mean you are righteous. We don't inherit blessings unless we earn them. Salvation is an individual matter, all are tried and tested and must learn faith in Christ.
Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Nephi 22:2 "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation."
This made me think of the hymn "The Lord is My Light". I had to find it and listen to it. So many times hymns say much better what I feel.
The Lord is My Light The Lord is my light; then why should I fear? By day and by night his presence is near. He is my salvation from sorrow and sin; This blessed assurance the Spirit doth bring. [Chorus] The Lord is my light; He is my joy and my song. By day and by night He leads, he leads me along. The Lord is my light; tho clouds may arise, Faith, stronger than sight, looks up thru the skies Where Jesus forever in glory doth reign. Then how can I ever in darkness remain? [Chorus] The Lord is my light; He is my joy and my song. By day and by night He leads, he leads me along. The Lord is my light; the Lord is my strength. I know in his might I’ll conquer at length. My weakness in mercy he covers with pow’r, And, walking by faith, I am blest ev’ry hour. [Chorus] The Lord is my light; He is my joy and my song. By day and by night He leads, he leads me along. The Lord is my light, my all and in all. There is in his sight no darkness at all. He is my Redeemer, my Savior, and King. With Saints and with angels his praises I’ll sing. [Chorus] The Lord is my light; He is my joy and my song. By day and by night He leads, he leads me along.
"Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."
David is repenting of his sins. I pondered on how these are the greatest loss for sin. To have the holy spirit taken from you. To no longer feel the presence of the Lord. A profound depression caused by the removal of joy for your salvation. Once tasting of these things it would be so painful to lose them. Only true repentance and forgiveness can restore them.
Today's Favorite Verse: Mosiah 3:17
"And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent."
As I searched and pondered this chapter I thought "what is the most important verse for me to know?" This is the one that I selected. Without the atonement made by Jesus Christ there would have been no salvation possible for the children of men. How grateful I am for my Savior Jesus Christ and all he has done for me.
