Today's Favorite Verse: Proverbs 27:14

Today's Favorite Verse: Proverbs 27:14
"He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him."

That made me chuckle, though I don't know if its what this verse intended. Around our house you better speak softly in the morning. No one likes loud noises or a lot of talking. We love our alone time in the morning. I don't think any of us would appreciate being woken up loudly to receive a blessing. It's not the time or place for it. It would feel more like a cursing. I suppose that would mean if you're going to bless someone make sure the time and place is appropriate for the intended target.

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 130:6

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 130:6
"My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning."

The phrase "watch for the morning" made me think of the morning of the first resurrection, when Christ appears. Many focus on the Lord's Second Coming, yet what is needed more are those that "waiteth for the Lord". Those that wait to hear His words and follow Him. I could know every minutia regarding the second coming, and it would serve me no purpose, if my soul is not right with God when he comes.

Today's Favorite Verse: Proverbs 8:17

Today's Favorite Verse: Proverbs 8:17
"I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me."

The words "those that seek me early" made me pause to ponder. What does that mean?  Is it speaking of seeking the Lord in my youth?  What if I am not young, have I lost that advantage? Then the thought came to me on what a blessing it has been in my life to make the first thing I read in the morning the Book of Mormon. I have had some pretty profound scripture reading sessions in the early hours of the morning. I just love these moments of early morning scripture and prayer. Yes, I study my scriptures in the evening as I work through all the standard works. Yet those early morning moments have given me a relationship with the Lord that nothing else has. I wonder if that is what's meant by "those that seek me early"?  The Lord is first in their life.
