Today's Favorite Verse: Acts 9:4-6

Today's Favorite Verse: Acts 9:4-6
"And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do."

This made me ponder on judgment day when we will face the Lord. Like Saul, there will be no long speeches for justification for our sins and behaviors. It will be an absolute truth if we are found wanting. Thankfully for Saul he had years ahead of him to repent and be forgiven.

Today's Favorite Verse: Revelation 14:15

Today's Favorite Verse: Revelation 14:15
"And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Trust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe."

What I pondered on was timing. When the time is right, when the wicked are fully ripe then the Father will send his angels and the Lord will reap with his sickle. The timing will be perfect and justified. I also pondered how this verse confirms what the Lord said during his ministry. That even the Son would not know the hour or the day but the Father only.

"But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father."
(Mark 13:32)

Today's Favorite Verse: Job 25:4

Today's Favorite Verse: Job 25:4
"How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?"

I couldn't find any light in what Bildad said in these six short verse. Probably because he wasn't listening to what Job just said and filled the air with words. Verse 4 was the only one with footnotes. They were on the words "justified" and "clean". I read the footnotes and found the light I was looking for. To Bildad I would say that yes both are possible.

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 15:22

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 15:22
"And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams."

Samuel tells Saul the voice of the Lord. He is to smite Amalek and utterly destroy all they have and spare nothing. He is to slay both men, women, infants and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. What does Saul do?  He spares Agag the king of the Amalekites, and they destroy only the vile and refuse of the animals. All that they saw good they kept, and justified themselves by saying they would sacrifice to the Lord. This went against the commandment of God. Just because I think I want to do a good thing doesn't mean I can break the laws of God. The ends do not justify the means.

I pondered on how this fits my day. It would be like not paying a full tithing, holding back from the Lord. Then justifying myself and saying before the Bishop I had paid a full tithe in order to get a temple recommend. Then I go to the temple to do work for my deceased ancestors, when I was not worthy to do so. Thinking somehow the ends would justify the means. Saul was rejected by the Lord and told he was no longer to be king. For me if left unrepentant, I would lose my eternal exaltation. I would not become a king or queen, or priest of priestess in the eternal mansion of my Father.
