Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:6

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:6
"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."

This chapter reminds me of fast offerings, where we skip two meals and give the cost of it to the Lord. Fast offerings are gathered the first Sunday of the month, then distributed to those in need. I truly love to hear of all the ways the church uses our fast offerings. When I was first married I really didn't know how much to give. Was the cost of the two meals a bowl of soup or oatmeal? Sometimes that was what I gave especially when I included all the members of the family. Then I heard a bishop talk on this and he mentioned he used the price of eating out as his guide. I embraced that idea and over time included the cost of better restaurants. What a difference this more generous fast offering has made in our lives. I'm sure it has blessed others, but all I can compare is my life. Between paying tithing and a generous fast offering we have sufficient for our needs.

"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:" (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Day 4211

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 41:1-2

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 41:1-2
"Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies."

I pondered on how I consider the poor, which made me think of Fast Sunday and making fast offerings. Once a month I fast two meals and donate the cost of those meals to bless the lives of those in need. I had never looked on fast offerings as a blessing for me too. The act of fasting yes, but not the offering. What a rich promise to be delivered in time of trouble, preserved and kept alive and blessed, and not be delivered to the will of my enemies. The blessings far out way any donation I could make.

Day 2678

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Kings 19:4, 9-10,18

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Kings 19:4, 9-10,18
"But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him."

Jealous = zealous

There is so much in this chapter it was hard to find one thing. What I notice first is how weary and exhausted Elijah sounds. Because he had slain the prophets of Baal, Jezebel send a message to Elijah that he will be slain. Elijah flees for his life. When he finally rests under a juniper tree what he asks the Lord is for his life to be over. At that point instead of ravens coming to feed him it's an angel of the Lord. After he arises and eats what the angel gives him he lays down again. The angel comes a second time to wake him and have him eat. This food gives him the strength to go on for forty days.

When Elijah lodges next in a cave the word of the Lord comes to him and asks "What doest thou here, Elijah?" We still see Elijah feeling pretty alone. It is then that Elijah received revelation. As he stands before the Lord he sees great wind rent the mountains, and break the rocks, then an earthquake and after that a fire. After that he is taught the Lord was not in the wind, earthquake or fire but in the still small voice. Why was this knowledge so important to Elijah at this time? Because he had become discouraged after the great manifestation of the fire coming down from heaven consuming the offering upon the altar, and yet the people of Israel did not recognize the power of the Lord. Instead they wanted to have him killed.

Then the Lord asks Elijah again "What doest thou here, Elijah?", and Elijah gives him the same response and why he feels so alone. Then the Lord teaches him his mission, to return and anoint Hazel to be king over Syria, Jehu the king over Israel, and Elisha to be prophet after him. Then the greatest thing Elijah is told is there are 7,000 in Israel that have not turned their hearts to Baal. All is not lost and there is a work for him to do. It is through the still small voice that others have been prepared and will be taught the power of the Lord.

I love how this story shows we are never really alone. Even the strong need to be ministered to.

Day 2469

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Samuel 1:12

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Samuel 1:12
"And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword."

David and his men mourn, weep and fast for Saul and Jonathan that were killed. It is the fasting part of mourning that I don't see mention of today. It obviously came hand in hand in the scriptures. It surely is a sign that people are turning to God to be comforted in their grief.

"Yea, the cry of widows mourning for their husbands, and also of fathers mourning for their sons, and the daughter for the brother, yea, the brother for the father; and thus the cry of mourning was heard among all of them, mourning for their kindred who had been slain.
And now surely this was a sorrowful day; yea, a time of solemnity, and a time of much fasting and prayer."
(Alma 28:5-6)

Day 2427

Friday, November 19, 2021

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 31:12-13

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 31:12-13
"All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days."

When Saul the king is killed it doesn't say that Israel mourned him. What it does say is they fasted seven days. It made me wonder how Israel felt about Saul. I've only really heard how determined he was to slay David. Saul's three sons including Jonathan are killed. I know at least Jonathan was friend to David. I think no matter what Israel would show respect for their king and fasting was how they did it. Regardless of how we feel for our leaders, the office they held should be honored.

Day 2426

Today's Favorite Verse: Leviticus 2:2-3

Today's Favorite Verse: Leviticus 2:2-3

"And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord:
And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord made by fire."

A meat offering is the evening sacrifice. It completed the sacrificial meal of the burnt and peace offering. Only a memorial was offered and the remainder was given to the priests for their service. It was a holy offering. I pondered on what it must have been like for Aaron and his sons to receive such a gift. It made me think of the Bishop and his responsibility to use fast offerings with care. When you know something has been consecrated to the Lord you would be mindful of your stewardship over it, as should the receiver of it.

Day 2251

Monday, April 27, 2020

Today's Favorite Verse: Mosiah 26:18

Today's Favorite Verse: Mosiah 26:18
"Yea, blessed is this people who are willing to bear my name; for in my name shall they be called; and they are mine."

I was just thinking about the importance and timing of the prophet emphasizing that the correct name of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be used. I recall years ago an interview with a governor after a hurricane had devastated his state. The governor said that much help had come from the LDS Church and the Mormons. He didn't realize they were the same people. He didn't realize that in reality it was a nickname and not "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" that was helping him.

I am seeing so many articles now of all these food pantries and other faith's charities that the church is sending food donations to. I was really struck today on how this is all being done under the correct name of the church and that Jesus Christ is at the head. We are a people willing to bear His name.

I'm preparing for this coming Sabbath to be Fast Sunday. This will be our third fast since things were locked down and church meetings were suspended. Fast Sunday is now in my home. I will fast for two meals and then give a fast offering donation online to the church. Those funds will first be used locally and the surplus the church will use to continue to help those in need. I do not know who it is for but I know they are my brother or sister. What an amazing and humbling process this all is. How many things had to be done over the years line upon line, to bring us to a day that we can stand and bear Christ's name in helping others. I feel this coming fast will be even more holy and special because it's more quiet in its nature.

Day 1855

Friday, April 10, 2020

Today's Favorite Verse: Mosiah 9:3, 17

Today's Favorite Verse: Mosiah 9:3, 17
"And yet, I being over-zealous to inherit the land of our fathers, collected as many as were desirous to go up to possess the land, and started again on our journey into the wilderness to go up to the land; but we were smitten with famine and sore afflictions; for we were slow to remember the Lord our God.
Yea, in the strength of the Lord did we go forth to battle against the Lamanites; for I and my people did cry mightily to the Lord that he would deliver us out of the hands of our enemies, for we were awakened to a remembrance of the deliverance of our fathers."

My family just finished our fast for today. We were fasting on Good Friday as the prophet asked and prayed that God would control the pandemic, protect the caregivers, that the economy would be strengthened, and life normalized. All day I have wondered if the world is ready for this pandemic to be over? Not like are you tired and done with it. But, have we sufficiently turned our hearts back to God. I guess the way we will know is by what happens next. Until then we will continue to have periods of fasting until we've learned all that we are suppose to learn from this. The primary thing is as Zeniff and his people learned, to be awakened to a remembrance of our God.

Day 1838

Sunday, October 6, 2019

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
"Now concerning the collection from the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gathering when I come.

It reminded me of the talk President Russell M. Nelson gave today in the Sunday morning session of General Conference. He discussed the donations of Fast Offerings and Humanitarian aid the saints have been able to provide to those in need. How much of it has been given in disaster relief. Paul in this chapter was speaking to the saints in Corinth taking up a collection for the saints in need. If I remember correctly it was for the saints in Jerusalem. He wanted it collected in advance so when he came it didn't need to be gathered. Seems preparedness and self-reliance was part of the early church. Not surprising when you think of the counsel to have charity for others.

Day 1651

Monday, April 29, 2019

Today's Favorite Verse: Zechariah 7:5-6

Today's Favorite Verse: Zechariah 7:5-6
"Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priest, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?
And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?"

This verse reminds me of an experience I had with fasting. As a Fast Sunday approached I realized I had nothing I needed or wanted to fast for. No check list of my wants or the expressed needs of others. As I pondered on it I had the impression to just fast for the joy of the gospel, in gratitude for all the Savior has done for me. It was the most memorable fast I ever had. It filled my soul. There was no fast before that, that could even compare.

I learned an important lesson. That my soul needs to show my gratitude to the Lord. Fasting is that language of devotion. It is the ultimate sign of submitting my will and to focus on Him. Fasting to me now means to fast in this way. If I need to include others in my fast it is secondary and not the primary purpose of my fast.

Day 1493

Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Today's Favorite Verse: Joel 1:14-15

Today's Favorite Verse: Joel 1:14-15
"Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord.
Atlas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come."

My heart is so sad for so many terrible and sad things I have read and saw the last few days. I need to fast for all the grief and sorrow I see others going through. I want to go to the temple, and pray for them. But, my time table is not my own, because I am dependent on others helping me right now. Two weeks of not being able to go to the temple makes the news happening around me even harder to bare.

Day 1452

Monday, June 11, 2018

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 118:24

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 118:24
"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

There have been times I wished I lived in a different age. I've always loved history and could easily live in the past. But, just yesterday when I was traveling in the car I thought about how grateful I was to live in this day. It is my day and I am glad of it. I'm sure that is why this verse stuck out to me in this chapter. The Lord made no mistake in the timing of my coming to earth.

I was made for this day. Living now is exactly what I need. Even when I see the wickedness and craziness in the world. I have to turn my face from them, even when I'm looking right at them. I just finished my 7 day social media fast and started to read posts and comments again on Facebook. I really am learning something about myself in being able to walk away from the multitude of voices. Not sure what I am seeing, but I know connections are forming. It's rather exciting when I know I am ready to be taught if I just listen, ponder and observe. These are exciting times to live in. The Lord is blessing his saints richly with the spirit. If we just turn to Him.

Day 1171

Sunday, June 3, 2018

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 110:3

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 110:3
"Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth."

I listened tonight to the Worldwide Youth Devotional with President Russell M. Nelson and Sister Wendy W. Nelson. It was amazing. This is a chosen generation and they are being prepared for the second coming of the Lord. Priesthood power is upon the earth and we must be clean and holy. This verse just seems to speak of our day. President Nelson asked the following of the youth.

To Enlist in the Lord's Youth Battalion to Gather Israel
1. Seven day social media fast
2. Weekly sacrifice of time to the Lord - 3 weeks in a row give up something you like to do, to help gather Israel
3. Keep on the covenant path
4. Pray daily for all to receive blessings of the gospel
5. Stand out. Be different. Be a light
Prayerfully read the book "For the Strength of Youth"

The hardest one for me on the list is to disengage with social media for a week.

This is what President Nelson asked.

"Disengage in a constant reliance on social media by holding a seven day fast from social media. If you are paying more attention to feeds from social media then you are to the whispering of the spirit then you are putting yourself at spiritual risk, as well as the risk of intense loneliness and depression... Give yourself a seven day break from fake... This social media fast can just be between you and the Lord. It will be your sign to him that you are willing to step away from the world in order to enlist in his youth battalion."

At first I thought of reasons why I can't do it. Part of my work involves monitoring social media. I also feel I am taking part in sharing the gospel by posting my favorite verse.

I want to be obedient but I also need to work and serve. I have sat here since the broadcast wondering what I should do. Quietly I knew what was needful for me. For my personal life I need to disengage and put social media away. I am starting my social media fast today. I will post my favorite verse but I won't be checking any of my feeds, comments or friends posts. I know where my issues lie. I waste to much time checking the latest news stories. Google News on my phone is the worst for me. I have been trying to break this habit and now is my chance. Instead of looking for an excuse I now am excited for the opportunity for change.

I may not be a youth, but in the scheme of the eternities I'm just a babe. I want to be part of the youth battalion of the Lord to help gather Israel. The greatest challenge, the greatest cause, and the greatest work on the earth today. Senior missionaries are needed too! I can do it!

Day 1163

Friday, December 8, 2017

Today's Favorite Verse: Ezra 8:21

Today's Favorite Verse: Ezra 8:21
"Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance."

The word afflict didn't sound right to me, because to appear afflicted would not be what the Lord would have me show while fasting.

"Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
(Matthew 6:16)

Thankfully there was a footnote on the word afflict - OR humble. Now that made sense to me. Fasting and humbling myself before God is exactly what I try so hard to do on at such a special day. I am so grateful for Fast Sundays. How they fill my soul. For I rarely fast for something I need or anyone else needs. We have been blessed to not have the need. Instead I fast for the joy of the gospel and gratitude for all God has done for me. I am grateful for the spirit showing me a better way. As I fast in gratitude and joy my basket runneth over with more and I am filled.

Day 986

Saturday, November 25, 2017

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 31:10

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 31:10
"And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the Lord, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the Lord hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store."

This verse made me think of Malachi 3:10
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

In the April 1986 LDS Conference talk "The Law of the Fast" by Elder L. Tom Perry he quoted President Romney in saying.

"I am thoroughly in harmony with what the Bishop said about our need to contribute liberally to the fast-offerings fund and to every other fund that the Church officially calls upon us to contribute to. I am a firm believer that you cannot give to the Church and to the building up of the kingdom of God and be any poorer financially. I remember a long time ago, over 50 years, when Brother [Melvin J.] Ballard laid his hands on my head and set me apart to go on a mission. He said in that prayer of blessing that a person could not give a crust to the Lord without receiving a loaf in return. That's been my experience. If the members of the Church would double their fast-offering contributions, the spirituality in the Church would double. We need to keep that in mind and be liberal in our contributions." (Welfare Agricultural Meeting, 3 Apr. 1971, p.1.)

I sat and pondered on giving a crust to the Lord and receiving a loaf in return. I have been so blessed. Each time I increase my fast offerings I find my blessings have doubled. I remembered a conversation with a bishop's wife and she said that he gave a generous fast offering equal to a dinner out, not a meal at home. This came home to me one week when our family ordered take out the Saturday before Fast Sunday. It so happened it was the second time our family had eaten out that week. I totalled what the cost was and considered it against what I had been giving the Lord. It took faith to follow the impression to match the cost of those meals against my fast offering. It was also that Fast Sunday I decided to just fast for joy, with gratitude for the blessings I have already been given. It was one of the most memorable fasts of my life. It has now set my standard. When you give a loaf you get a full course meal in return.

Day 973

Friday, June 30, 2017

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 14:24, 37

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 14:24, 37
"And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day."

As I read this chapter I see one disaster after another. Yes, Israel defeated the Philistines that day, but it had nothing to do with Saul. There was a reason that God did not answer him.

For Saul had cursed anyone that eat that day. It was a forced fast, not to turn their hearts to the Lord and strengthen them, but to avenge Saul's enemies. The motive was wrong. Outwardly it may have appeared to be a means the Lord uses to bless his people, but that is not where their hearts were. Then when the men find honey upon the ground they wouldn't eat it, because they feared Saul's oath. Once again they were fasting not because they feared the Lord, it was because of the fear of what Saul would do to them.

Saul's son Jonathan was not aware of the oath; for he had been off on the Lord's errand. So, he ate the honey and was enlightened, or refreshed from being tired. He is told by others of his father's oath and he says his father has troubled the land. Because of the hunger the men are under when they see the spoils of the Philistines, they slaughter the animals and eat it with the blood. Which is against the law of Moses. So in a way Saul caused the men to sin in this.

Saul doesn't see his roll in all this, he thinks it is others that have sinned. So when he seeks counsel of God in going down against the Philistines he is not answered. Saul then tries to find out who sinned to cause the Lord not to answer him. He then finds out his son Jonathan had eaten the honey and says he must die. It is only because of the voice of the people that Jonathan is rescued. For they recognized that Jonathan had been lead by the Lord in defeating the Philistines that day.

So what I pondered on was how when my motives are wrong, and I try to pass off what I am doing as a thing of God, when it isn't, no good will come of it. Not only do I sin, but I will cause others to sin. Sin will build upon itself, because this path only takes me further from God. The other thing I saw was the placing of blame. The first person I must look at as the cause of something happening is myself. I must see my roll in things. What disaster could have taken place for Saul and Jonathan if the people had not stopped it. It would have never gotten to that point if Saul had looked to himself as the root of the problem in the first place.

Day 825

Sunday, April 9, 2017

Today's Favorite Verse: Deuteronomy 15:11

Today's Favorite Verse: Deuteronomy 15:11
"For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land."

This is a subject that has touched my heart of late. I searched the scriptures for all the references of the poor and read them. I paused at the story in Luke 16 of a certain rich man.

"And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full or sores,
And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores."

It goes on to tell that the beggar dies and is carried by angels into the bosom of Abraham. The rich man dies and goes to hell. I thought about how this rich man did more than some people around me would do. He let the beggar sit outside his gate. In my local news, no one wants a homeless shelter anywhere near their neighborhoods, much less sitting outside their house. I pondered on where would such behavior leave us?

The poor will always be among us. There has to be a reason for that. I think there are lessons for both of us to learn. One thing I could see in my searching is there is no excuse for not helping them. As I sat and reflected on what I could do, I realized today is Fast Sunday, being more generous with my fast offering is a start.

Day 743

Monday, February 13, 2017

Today's Favorite Verse: Leviticus 23:32

Today's Favorite Verse: Leviticus 23:32
"It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath."

The word celebrate has a footnote, meaning observe. I pondered on the difference. Celebrate sounds more joyful. I reflected on observing the Sabbath and how I really need to celebrate it. God rested from his labors on the Sabbath after the creating the heavens and earth, and man. Would I have not had incredible joy at the conclusion of such a wondrous gift for me? I reflected back on President Russell M. Nelson's conference talk "The Sabbath is a Delight" and searched for the word "Joy". It was there three times.

Sabbath will lead to joy and rejoicing.
That thy joy may be full.
Can bring immense joy.

I pondered on how for the past several months on Fast Sunday I have been fasting for joy. I don't really know why I have been doing that. I think it began because one Fast Sunday I didn't know what to dedicate my fast to. Then it came to me, to fast for joy and for the love of my Savior. Instead of looking for a want, I could offer my gratitude. It has been such a marvelous experience I have simply continued the practice. The spirit has been so strong during these fasts. I think it's time to move this into each Sabbath. To reflect more upon the joy and rejoicing part of the Sabbath. What I was rejoicing for in heaven I need to rejoice for now. I believe not only will the spirit remain my constant companion, but I will always be filled with joy in doing so.

Day 688

Monday, October 31, 2016

Today's Favorite Verse: Genesis 8:20

Today's Favorite Verse: Genesis 8:20
"And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar."

After surviving the flood and coming out of the ark Noah offered sacrifices to the Lord. I realized this wasn't an offering because of something he wanted. It was an offering in gratitude for what the Lord had done for him and his family. I'm sure there was an element of mourning for those that were lost. But in my heart I feel it was more to rejoice. This caused me to ask myself "Do I express my gratitude often enough to the Lord for all that he has done for me?" I realized the answer is no.

We don't offer animal sacrifices any more, because Christ fulfilled the law of Moses. I sat and pondered on what sacrifice I can make today to rejoice in all that the Lord has done for me. For some reason I thought of fasting for joy. For in fasting my heart is the most broken and contrite, which is what Christ said he wanted of me. Is there anything in the scriptures that show people fasting for joy?

I found in Doctrine & Covenants 59:13-16
"...that thy fasting may be perfect, or, in other words, that thy joy may be full.
Verily, this is a fasting and prayer, or in other words rejoicing and prayer.
And inasmuch as ye do these things with thanksgiving, with cheerful hearts and countenances, not with much laughter, for this is sin, but with a glad heart and a cheerful countenance.
Verily I say, that inasmuch as ye do this, the fulness of the earth is yours,"

I have come to realize I need to make my fasting more joyful. It should be a time of gratitude for all the Lord has done for me. A time to just draw closer to him, and not looking for something I want. I have much thinking to do on this, for this coming Sunday is my day set aside to fast. I think this could be a paradigm shift for me regarding the law of the fast.

Day 583

Thursday, August 11, 2016

Today's Favorite Verse: D&C 83:6

Today's Favorite Verse: Doctrine & Covenants 83:6
"And the storehouse shall be kept by the consecrations of the church; and widows and orphans shall be provided for, as also the poor. Amen."

I pondered on how the law of consecration is alive and well today. Once a month I fast two meals and donate that as a fast offering to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is how the Lord provides for his own. The blessings now are that we are able to help more than our own members. What an amazing operation this has blossomed into. Even the poorest among us can fast and donate to help others, and receive the blessings from doing so. I am so grateful for the help I received when my children were young and I could not provide for them. I am so grateful that I can now help others receive that same assistance.

Day 502
