Today's Favorite Verse: Luke 18:22

Today's Favorite Verse: Luke 18:22
"Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: And come, follow me."

When I read this verse the thought that came to me is, Jesus was saying what the "certain ruler" lacked was the desire to do the Father's will. He may have kept the commandments but it was the ruler's desire. What the Father wills for us, is much deeper and personal. Like being asked to minister to my fellow man, even if that means you distribute all that you have to the poor. The call is not the same for each of us. Sometimes, we lay it all on the altar when what is asked is personal and hard for us. The words come, follow me, Jesus taught by example by doing the Father's will, even when it required him to drink the bitter cup, atone for our sins and die for us.
