Today's Favorite Verse: Helaman 9:21-22

Today's Favorite Verse: Helaman 9:21-22
"But Nephi said unto them: O ye fools, ye uncircumcised of heart, ye blind, and ye stiffnecked people, do ye know how long the Lord your God will suffer you that ye shall go in this your way of sin?
O ye ought to begin to howl and mourn, because of the great destruction which at this time doth await you, except ye shall repent."

When I read this I could imagine Nephi saying this same thing to us today, especially if he read some comments made about the Utah Area Presidency's letter yesterday. Who would have thought a sifting would come to the saints over the simplicity of wearing a mask? Greater things are at stake here.

During family scripture study we were reading Alma 32 and these verses stood out to me.

"Behold I say unto you, do ye suppose that ye cannot worship God save it be in your synagogues only?
I say unto you, it is well that ye are cast out of your synagogues, that ye may be humble, and that ye may learn wisdom; for it is necessary that ye should learn wisdom; for it is because that ye are despised of your brethren because of your exceeding poverty, that ye are brought to a lowliness of heart; for ye are necessarily brought to be humble."
(Alma 32:10, 12)

The one word I would change is poverty to pride. It is because of the pride of the saints I wonder how long it will be before we are once again turned away from meeting at church. We still are not ready as a people to return to our temples. These are the days were we acquire much lowliness of heart, become humble and learn much wisdom. Putting our trust in the Lord and not in the arm of flesh by showing our obedience.
