Today's Favorite Verse: Alma 63:10-11

Today's Favorite Verse: Alma 63:10-11
"And it came to pass in the thirty and ninth year of the reign of the judges, Shiblon died also, and Corianton had gone forth to the land northward in a ship, to carry forth provisions unto the people who had gone forth into that land.
Therefore it became expedient for Shiblon to confer those sacred things, before his death, upon the son of Helaman, who was called Helaman, being called after the name of his father."

In this chapter it speaks of the death of Moroni, and the sons of Alma the younger, Helaman and Shiblon. It also speaks of the people that were building ships and traveling northward. I had totally missed earlier that Alma's son Corianton was one of them traveling northward in a ship. Because he was gone the sacred records did not pass to him. It appears that Alma had wanted all his sons to write upon the plates in their turn. Instead his grandson Helaman, son of Helaman, now has the records. What a strong and blessed posterity Alma the younger had. The importance of the scriptures must have played a big role in that.
