Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 58:1

Today's Favorite Verse: Psalms 58:1
"Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?"

I ponder on how we are told not to judge.

"Judge not, that ye be not judged. "
(Matthew 7:1)

"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:"
(Luke 6:37)

Yet, at the same time we are to make righteous judgments.

"Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour."
(Leviticus 19:15)

"Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
(John 7:24)

"Therefore, my son, see that you are merciful unto your brethren; deal justly, judge righteously, and do good continually; and if ye do all these things then shall ye receive your reward; yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; and ye shall have good rewarded unto you again."
(Alma 41:14)

"And now, verily, verily, I say unto thee, put your trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good—yea, to do justly, to walk humbly, to judge righteously; and this is my Spirit."
(Doctrine and Covenants 11:12)

The judgments we are to make is between good and evil. That is a righteous judgment for it protects our souls. It is to use the light of Christ given to all. It comes with discernment, a gift of the spirit.

" For behold, my brethren, it is given unto you to judge, that ye may know good from evil; and the way to judge is as plain, that ye may know with a perfect knowledge, as the daylight is from the dark night.
For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God."
(Moroni 7:15-16)

"Wo unto them that call evil good, and good evil, that put darkness for light, and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
(2 Nephi 15:20)

I pondered on how turned around the world has become. What was good is now called evil, and what was evil is now called good. We will be judged on how we determine which is which. For God's law have not changed. Now more than ever we need the spirit as our guide to make righteous judgments.
