Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Kings 22:8, 11, 19

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Kings 22:8, 11, 19
"And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.

The book of the law, which could have been the book of Deuteronomy or the Pentateuch, covering the five books of Moses, had been found. That suggests that they had been lost. Not surprising given the wickedness in Judah, and Israel. I pondered on the blessing of reading the scriptures and how it keeps us on the covenant path. There is also a protection in them to keep us humble and a heart that is turned to God. He will then watch over us, and hear our prayers.
