Today's Favorite Verse: John 16:12

Today's Favorite Verse: John 16:12
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now."

The apostles were not ready to learn more. They needed the experience the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ would bring. Then their eyes would be opened and they would comprehend more. It made me ponder on how we are taught line upon line, precept upon precept, as we are able to bear it and the Spirit teaches it to us.

"For he will give unto the faithful line upon line, precept upon precept; and I will try you and prove you herewith."
(Doctrine and Covenants 98:12)

"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"
(Isaiah 28:10)

"For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have."
(2 Nephi 28:30)

"Behold, ye are little children and ye cannot bear all things now; ye must grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth."
(Doctrine and Covenants 50:40)

"And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours."
(Doctrine and Covenants 78:18)

"Let us “be of good cheer” for the Lord will, as he has promised, lead us along and show us the way. He will help us as we decide from day to day on the allocation of our time and talent. We will move faster if we hurry less. We will make more real progress if we focus on the fundamentals. We will even come to know more as we serve more, for as we learn to bear more we are made ready to hear more"
(Spencer W. Kimball, "Let Us Move Forward and Upward", April 1979 General Conference)
