Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 31:5-6
"And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly.
And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps."
As Hezekiah is returning Judah and the children of Israel to worshipping the Lord he restores the temple and the paying of tithes. I realized that while they were in a state of apostasy there was no paying of tithes. The same thing happens today. As people feel they don't need to pay tithes, or think they can donate better than the church, they slowly fall away and into a state of apostasy. No wonder being a full tithe payer is part of what is required in order to enter the house of the Lord.
