Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 19:6-7

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 19:6-7
"And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.
Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts."

Jehoshaphat sets up judges in the land. The key points are the judgments they make are to represent the Lord. The Lord is no respecter of persons or accepts gifts and neither should they.

"For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:"
(Deuteronomy 10:17)

As I ponder on this I see that it's also a good measuring stick for judgments I need to make. Even though the scriptures say "Judge not, that ye be not judged." There are times we are called upon to make righteous judgments.

"And now, verily, verily, I say unto thee, put your trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good—yea, to do justly, to walk humbly, to judge righteously; and this is my Spirit."
(Doctrine and Covenants 11:12)

"Now these are the words which Jesus taught his disciples that they should say unto the people. Judge not unrighteously, that ye be not judged; but judge righteous judgment."
(JST Matthew 7:1-2)
