Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 21:7, 12, 14-15

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 21:7, 12, 14-15
"Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day."

Being told that I would absolutely shake in my boots. Just because the Lord promised to not destroy the house of David doesn't mean you have a free pass to do whatever evil you want. In this case the Lord had no choice by to destroy Jehoram and the majority of his family. Only his son Jehoahaz survives. Will he learn from what he saw happen to his father? Everything Elijah prophesized was fulfilled and this has to be the worst summary on the esteem his people felt for him.

"Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings." (vs 20)
