Today's Favorite Verse: Genesis 3:15

Today's Favorite Verse: Genesis 3:15

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

This is one of these verses I've been trying to figure out what it means for a long time. Who is bruising the head and who is bruising the heel? I noticed in the chapter header it said "Her Seed (Christ) will bruise the serpent's head". Then in the footnote "it" has HEB he. So now I know that Christ will bruise Satan's head. From this I finally figured out that Satan will bruise Christ's heel. Then I pondered on how he does that? Then the light bulb goes off. Christ was crucified, by his own, inspired by Satan. Satan thought he had wounded Christ and stopped the Father's plan. Instead it moved the plan ahead by Christ atoning for our sins, and his resurrection breaking the bands of death. This whole time I've been trying to figure out this verse and its speaking of Christ's atonement and the power to crush Satan in the end.

"And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen."
(Romans 16:20)

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;"
(Hebrews 2:14)

"Yet is pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand."
(Isaiah 53:10)
