"Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you."
The cause and effect of what you sow is what you reap. If I sow righteousness I will reap mercy. If I sow seeking the Lord, he will rain righteousness upon me. Meaning I will reap righteousness in return. It is from seeking the Lord that I gain righteousness which then brings mercy. It is one great eternal round.
