Today's Favorite Verse: Romans 4:13
" For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith."
Abraham's seed did not receive promised blessings because they were his descendants. It was through righteousness and obedience to the law that they are. It reminded me of this.
"There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—
And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."
(Doctrine and Covenants 130:20-21)
