Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 26:15-16

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 26:15-16
"And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroard; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense."

This made me ponder on inventions and the inspiration for them that comes from the Lord. There have been many inventions just in my day that have furthered the Lord's work upon the earth. Yet, Satan uses them too for his own destruction. I ponder on the part "till he was strong". I think it means Uzziah thought it was his strength that gave him these inventions, and wasn't recognizing the Lord's hand in it any more. Because of this pride he also thinks he can go into the temple and burn incense, even when this honor belongs to the priests, the sons of Aaron. When told by Azariah to leave he is wroth, and leprosy breaks out in his forehead. This story speaks of the dangers of pride and boasting in your own strength. It will only lead to destruction.
