Today's Favorite Verse: Hebrews 7:12-15

Today's favorite verse: Hebrews 7:12-15
"For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the alter.
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Medchisedec there ariseth another priest."

This chapter was a little deep for me it speaks of the Melchizedek Priesthood and the great high priest of that name, and of the Aaronic Priesthood. What I didn't understand until now is that Jesus Christ was of the tribe of Juda and only the tribe of Levi served in the temple. No wonder the Jews didn't think he could be the Messiah, they thought it would be someone from another tribe, holding a different priesthood.

Christ priesthood was after Melchizedek the high priest or better yet Melchizedek was after the eternal priesthood of Jesus Christ. It appears Melchizedek's priesthood didn't come through a line. Just like Christ's didn't either, that is why he is a similitude of Medchisedec. Melchizedek was the King of Salem, which is, King of peace, and King of righteousness. This is what Christ is also known as.

So this makes me think that once the Priesthood changed with the doing away with the Mosaic law, Christ set the priesthood up through authority and not through lineage. Why was that important? I would guess so it could cover the whole earth. Worthy men of all race, and nationality can receive the priesthood by one that holds those keys. I do believe those keys have been restored and are once again upon the earth. The power of the priesthood surrounds this whole earth. That's pretty powerful.
