Today's Favorite Verse - John 17:21

Today's favorite verse: John 17:21
"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."
This is the great Intercessory Prayer, where the Savior knows he has finished his work. He prays for strength for those final acts. He prays for his disciplines and all of us that will come to believe in him. These words make me cry.

In my quoted verse it struck me that we are now included in this oneness. Yet I know I am a separate being from the Father and the Son. I felt a confirmation on my LDS belief that the Father and Son are two separate beings as they appeared to Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove. I know all of us are individual beings. The Father and Son are one in purpose, so should we be one in them if we have the same purpose. To do the will of the Father. You can be separate beings but called one.

Today's Favorite Verse - John 16:33

Today's favorite verse: John 16:33
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
The Savior spoke these words to his disciples before his atonement. He spoke of things to come. After He would leave them He would send the Comforter, the Holy Ghost. It is the Comforter that brings me peace through believing on the Savior's atonement. He has overcome the world. I have peace in my life even through problems, concerns and stresses of life are all around me. The atonement was not just to redeem me from my sins but to take away my pains. I can rest my troubles on his shoulders and He will carry them. He makes my burdens light. I am so grateful for the peace I have in my soul and that this gift if available to all of us.

Today's Favorite Verse - John 15:5

My sister-in-law Tami Fitzgerald Harris sent me a challenge [on Facebook] to daily post a favorite scripture for 7 days. I really dislike picking a favorite scripture because I have so many. It's like saying pick your favorite child. I told her I wasn't going to do it, but the last two chapters in 2 Nephi are my favorite.
I've been thinking about this all week and I realized my favorite scriptures are the ones I just read that taught me something new. So, I've decided to put a twist on this challenge. I am going to post my favorite verse from the chapter I am reading in the scriptures that day. Right now in personal study I am in the New Testament. For family scriptures we are in the Book of Mormon. So you will see a mixture in my posts this week. If you feel inclined to join me please do.

Today's favorite verse: John 15:5
"I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
This reminds me of how many times I have tried to accomplish projects and had lots of road blocks in the way. But, when I seek the Lords will in my life the things I do accomplish are the needful things. Toss the lists out and follow the spirit if we want to get what's important done. In the Lord we can bring forth much fruit.
