Today's Favorite Verse: Colossians 2:10

Today's favorite verse: Colossians 2:10
"And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power."

As I ponder on this 4th of July my heart is full. This verse reminds me that completeness in all matters comes when the Lord is at our head. I would sooner cut off my right arm then to take God out of our nation. To have him removed would not make the body whole anymore. It would no longer be what it was designed to be. It is God that preserves us as a great nation.

Today's Favorite Verse: Colossians 1:9

Today's favorite verse: Colossians 1:9
"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding."

Paul had heard of the saints at Colosse faith in Christ and the love which they had of all the saints. He then tells them of his prayers for them. That they may be filled with the knowledge of the Lord's will for them, wisdom and spiritual understanding. As I pondered on this I thought that would be the greatest thing I could possible have, to know the Lord's will for me, to have spiritual understanding and wisdom. I would be filled with the Holy Ghost. I don't need only Paul praying that for me. I need to pray for that myself. I should pray for that for others as well.

Today's Favorite Verse: Philippians 4:7

Today's favorite verse: Philippians 4:7
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

I pondered on why it is called a peace which passeth all understanding. I have felt it why can't I describe it? There are no words you can put together to explain how in the deepest of pain and sorrow there can be a peace in your heart and mind. By man's standard that makes no sense. In fact they would think I am talking crazy.

I have been without that peace in my life. I could even have no pressing cares but have no peace in my mind or heart. To think then that when I did suffer there could have been peace around me is simply not understandable. What causes the difference? I think it matters under who's care I keep my heart and mind. It must be in the tend hands of my Savior Jesus Christ. I need to let Him carry my burdens and wrap His loving arms around me. He must be the focus of my life to have that peace which passeth all understanding. Why is it without understanding? Because it makes no sense to someone who has never experienced such a peace.

Today's Favorite Verse: Philippians 3:18-20

Today's favorite verse: Philippians 3:18-20
"(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ."

I pondered on why my conversation needs to be on heavenly things. I think its because when I take God out of the equation with anything I do or say the spirit leaves. When that influence is gone I feed only my belly, glory in mine own knowledge and turn my heart on earthly things. God has to be in the equation so I understand all that I need to see. In a way I begin to see with two sets of eyes.

I've been a four eyes since about the third grade, when I received my first pair of glasses. To take my glasses off the world is a blur. I can't make anything out. If fact I can trip, fall, break things, and cause a lot of damage if I try to interact with this world. But, when I have my glasses on it all comes into focus. It's clear the direction I need to take. I would be lost without my glasses.

To make sense of this world I need to wear spiritual glasses. The world takes on a whole new dimension and level of understanding. To keep my conversations in a manner in which the spirit can always be the guide, prevents me from bumping into things I shouldn't bump into.
