Today's Favorite Verse: Daniel 3:21
"And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace."
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego would not bow down to Nebuchadnezzar's golden image. For that they were to be tossed into the fiery furnace. Their fear of God was greater than their fear of man. They knew that God would save them if it was His will. I have always loved this story. This and the one in the Book of Mormon where Nephi and Lehi are surrounded by a pillar of fire and it burned them not. These stories of survival in the midst of fire have brought me so much comfort. I used to be very afraid of nuclear holocaust but now I am not. I know that we can survive with no effect upon our bodies if it's according to God's will. While reading this I noticed the word "other" garments is italicized. That is one more reason for their protection.
