Today's Favorite Verse: Romans 9:21

Today's favorite verse: Romans 9:21
"Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

I've spent all day thinking on this chapter. Paul is explaining how the law of election (foreordination) operates. It can be a deep subject and I may not get things right. I didn't read what others say about this subject, because I wanted to just ponder it myself. This is what I have decided today.

God is the potter and with his lumps of clay he makes good people and bad people. I think there was every need for a Satan and a Hitler in this world. Just like there was a need to have our Savior come here too. Otherwise how could we truly be tested and have every opportunity to grow. Then you think why would he make someone and say you will be evil that is your role? How could you doom someone to that fate? So what I settled in my mind is he made the Satan, he made the Hitler because they were who they were from the very beginning. To turn them away from what they already were is to actually take away their agency. He knew what that intelligence was even before it was a spirit. The role they play here is only an extension of what they were to become. God knows us so well, just like we know our children's tendencies, but even better. Just like as parents we can tell what will happen if a certain combination of people get together with our child and the mess it will or will not make. That is why God can reveal to his prophets things that are to come. The thing is, we don't know what we are truly capable of. With that also comes our free agency. We can come to live up to our potential or not, but what we decide has eternal consequences.
