Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 10:1, 6-7

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Samuel 10:1, 6-7
"Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?
And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee."

I pondered on how Saul was anointed to his calling by a prophet. I could liken this to being set apart in my callings at church. The Lord is giving Saul, like he gives me, every opportunity to succeed in his calling. The spirit would guide him to do what was right for those that he had stewardship over. Samuel even says to the children of Israel "ye have this day rejected your God."  This is why they are receiving a king. Yet, God is giving their king every opportunity to bless His people. How merciful is that. How merciful it is to make weak things strong, becoming greater than themselves, a new man. The gifts are given to fulfill callings, it is up us to use the gift given for good.
