Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Kings 7:1
"Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
Benhadad had besieged Samaria and food was selling for a great price. Elisha prophesized that there will be plenty the next day, and flour will sell at an unheard of price. He is scorned. How did the prophesy come to pass? The Syrians heard the noise of the unseen chariots of fire that surrounded them. They thought the king of Israel had hired others to fight them so they fled. Leaving behind all their provisions. What does this tell me? Never mock the words of a prophet. For the one that mocked Elisha was trampled to death. Spiritual death is a far worse fate.
