Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Kings 4:22, 29
"And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,
And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore."
This chapter goes on to tell of the vastness of king Solomon's wealth. I looked at the footnote for the work "provision" and it takes me to 1 Samuel 8:15.
"And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants."
These were the words of Samuel the prophet, warning Israel what to expected when they wanted a king. I pondered on why Solomon appears to be a good king. I think the difference not only is his wisdom and understanding, but the "largeness of heart" given him. This would be a protection to the people because Solomon heart would do what was best for them. I pondered on how important God's gift of "largeness of heart" truly was in order for Solomon to be full of wisdom and understanding. If the heart was missing in this then Solomon could not have the depth of wisdom and understanding greater than anyone that every lived.
