Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 25:2, 14

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 25:2, 14
"And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.
Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Sier, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them."

The footnote says perfect heart = wholeheartedly

"Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day."
(Doctrine & Covenants 4:2)

Amaziah may have on the outside been doing what was right but it was the intent of his heart that lead him astray. With this heart it was possible for him to bow himself down before other gods and burn incense to them. It made me ponder on people I have know through the years that seemed so faithful and so obedient and then overnight they left the church. The problem is where their heart was, and that is something no one but Lord can truly know.

"Yea, I tell thee, that thou mayest know that there is none else save God that knowest thy thoughts and the intents of thy heart."
(Doctrine & Covenants 6:16)
