Today's Favorite Verse: Alma 55:31

Today's Favorite Verse: Alma 55:31
"But behold, the Nephties were not slow to remember the Lord their God in this time of afflication. They could not be taken in their snares; yea, they would not partake of their wine, save they had first given to some of the Lamanite prisoners."

The chapter has another fascinating story of how Moroni decides not to do a prisoner exchange with Ammoron. Instead he finds a descendant of Laman to go to the city of Gid where the Nephite were kept prisoners. They gave wine to the guards and while they were drunk Moroni and his men passed weapons into the prisoners. They did this in complete silence even though the Lamanite guards were in a drunken sleep. Then Moroni and his men surrounded the city. In the morning when the Lamanites awake they find the prisoners within the city are armed and they are surround outside the city too. They give up their arms and surrendered. Another amazing example of the Lord inspiring Moroni on how to fight this battle.

Then the Lamanites turn around and attempt to do the same thing to the Nephites that were done to them. Because the Nephites remember the Lord they cannot be caught in these same snares. What I pondered on was how the Lamanites even thought they could do the same things to the Nephites. Did they really think the Nephites stupid enough to fall for the same thing? Then it occurred to me that Satan never has any new tricks to play on people. His methods and tactics are always the same. He has been using the same tools and devices to capture the hearts of mens since before time. No wonder the Lamanites cannot receive any new sources of inspiration. To their darkened minds it doesn't even occur to them others would know what they are doing.
