"Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.
Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel."
The chapter headers says: "Hosea and his family are a sign unto Israel - In the day of gathering, the people of Israel will become the sons of the living God."
I wasn't really sure about what this chapter was talking about so I felt impressed to make notes of the points that stood out to me and what I thought they meant.
Departing from the Lord = apostasy
Marriage = covenant with the Lord
Jezreel = God will sow, or scatter abroad
Lo-ruhamah = not having obtained mercy
Lo-ammi = not my people
I think when it comes to not my people, that he is talking about the gentiles and the restoration. They will covenant with the Lord and be adopted as his children, sons of the living God.
Then the children of Judah and the covenant children of Israel will gather together and the Lord will be at the head.
