Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Kings 2:17
"And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife."
David made Solomon king while his elder son Adonijah tried to claim it for himself. Adonijah then fears Solomon and they seem to have some sort of agreement. At first I couldn't under why Adonijah asking to take Abishag for wife was worthy of death. I had to go back and remind myself who Abishag was. She was the young virgin given to warm David in his old age. She cared for him, but he knew her not. She still would have been considered the former king's wife or concubine. Which could only be taken by a king's successor. Which was basically Adonijah plotting treason to ask to marry Abishag.
