Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Chronicles 21:11-13

Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Chronicles 21:11-13
" So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee
Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man."

David sinned by counting Israel. I'm not really sure why that was a sin, other than the Lord told them not to. I ponder on which punishment I would have agreed to, 3 years of famine, 3 months of enemies overtaking me, or 3 days of the sword of the Lord in pestilence. David chose the 3 days of pestilence, because it would be at the hand of a merciful Lord and not of man. I wondered how famine would have been considered at the hand of man. Then I thought of how the wealthy or strong could take what remaining food there is and let others suffer for lack of it. With pestilence all were in the hands of the Lord. I think another consideration would be the length of the suffering. The pestilence would only last 3 days and be over.
