Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Chronicles 36:14-16
"Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.
And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:
But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy."
Even though the people were wicked the Lord had compassion on them and sent messengers of God to them. Instead they mock and misuse the prophets. To the point "there was no remedy". The wrath of the Lord leaves them unprotected and their enemies come in and destroy them, the temple, Jerusalem and carry any that escaped into Babylon. That is pretty bad when there is no other remedy than that.
I pondered on what a terrible condition people are in when they mock and misuse messengers of God, his prophets. That is exactly what's happening today. Maybe not to the extent that happened in this chapter but it doesn't take much research to see comments after General Conference that fall into this realm. We know what happens after they go into Babylon, they lost their religious freedom and ability to openly worship God. After listening to General Conference it seems like that is a battle gathering outside the door.
