Today's Favorite Verse: Alma 20:29
"And when Ammon did meet them he was exceedingly sorrowful, for behold they were naked, and their skins were worn exceedingly because of being bound with strong cords. And they also had suffered hunger, thirst, and all kinds of afflictions; nevertheless they were patient in all their sufferings."
This is in fulfillment of the words the Lord gave them at the start of their mission to the Lamanites.
"And the Lord said unto them also: Go forth among the Lamanites, thy brethren, and establish my word; yet ye shall be patient in long-suffering and afflictions, that ye may show forth good examples unto them in me, and I will make an instrument of thee in my hands unto the salvation of many souls."
(Alma 17:11)
I pondered on how different the experience of Ammon verses his brethren that were cast into prison and suffered many days there. One wasn't more righteous than the other. Both experiences were needed in the conversion of the Lamanites. When we are an instrument in the hands of the Lord we do not know in advance all that we will be called upon to experience. Once again I see the key is having patience, and the source of that strength comes from the Lord.
