Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Peter 1:6

Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Peter 1:6
"And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;"

I pondered on this is a path to godliness, prior to this it spoke of diligence, faith, virtue and knowledge. That before you can reach godliness, brotherly kindness and charity you must overcome temperance and patience. Patience always fascinates me because its such a divine Christlike attribute. Before you conquer patience you must first conquer yourself. Temperance is having self-restraint in actions, thoughts and feelings; with sobriety, and moderation. One definition of it says there are four types of temperance, with the character strengths of forgiveness, humility, prudence and self-regulation. Temperance is a wonderful virtue to have. If you want more patience then learn temperance.

"And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible."
(1 Corinthians 9:25)

"And no one can assist in this work except he shall be humble and full of love, having faith, hope, and charity, being temperate in all things, whatsoever shall be entrusted to his care."
(Doctrine and Covenants 12:8)
