Today's Favorite Verse: Matthew 2:20, 22-23

Today's Favorite Verse: Matthew 2:20, 22-23
"Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.
But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene."

There was so much to go over in this chapter, it was hard to pick a favorite. There are prophesies being fulfilled, which when I focused on Joseph he didn't appear to be motivated by them, but by the personal revelation he was receiving. The method God primarily spoke to him was in dreams. He would listen and immediately obey. Later you see his actions fulfilled prophesies of Rachel weeping for her children, fleeing with the young child to Egypt and then being called out of it. But, what really struck me was Joseph's dream to return didn't tell him to take Jesus to Nazareth. He had only been told to go back to the land of Israel. After so many times of being instructed in dreams once in Israel he is now left to follow the inspiration of the spirit to guide him. The choice was his on where. He is afraid to go to into Judaea and instead goes to Nazareth. This location was also part of prophecy. There are no accidents. God will guide us where we need to go even when the choice is totally ours to make.
