Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Kings 3:13-14
"And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee."
The kings of Israel, Judah and Edom came together to battle against Moab. Only Jehoshaphat the king of Judah worships the Lord. He asks if there is a prophet of the Lord there that can inquire of the Lord for them. That is when Elisha is brought to them. Elisha sarcastically tells the king of Israel to look to the prophets of his father and mother. Which are false prophets. Still the king of Israel and the king of Edom want to hear what the prophet Elisha will tell them. They even do what Elisha tells them. I pondered on how sometimes people will pick and choose when to be obedient to a prophet of God. They will follow when it suits their purposes. That isn't a wise course to take. Elisha knew were the true heart of the king of Israel was, yet for the sake of the king of Judah he gave them the counsel requested.
