Today's Favorite Verse: 2 Kings 10:30-31
And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.
But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.
Jehu may have brought about the Lord's will in the destruction of the house of Ahab, but it was not done out of a love for the Lord. Jehu was just wicked enough purely do it for himself. Jehu destroys Baal out of Israel, but practiced idolatry himself by worshipped the golden calves. Seems like a lot of contradictions. I notice that Jehu is promised to have his children sit on the throne of Israel for four generations, but that also means it ends after that. It more than likely has an end as punishment for Jehu's idolatry. Which would seem its a case for this...
"I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise."
