Today's Favorite Verse: Revelation 5:6, 12
"And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing."
When John was given this vision the people at that time understood what all the numbers, colors and symbols meant. This was under stood by Hebrews. Now I have to turn to other scriptures and what others have shared. I was reflecting on the symbol of seven horns and seven eyes.
Seven is a sum of 3 (representing the Godhead) and 4 (representing mankind and geographic fulness). In that 7 becomes perfection and is symbolic of completeness.
Horns are the symbol of power
Eyes are a symbol of sight, light, knowledge
I realized that verse 12 actually explained what that symbolism connected to the Lord meant. He was slain to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing. Those worshiping Him are acknowledging who he is. With the elders that are around him it reminds me of the priesthood power they are given by the Lamb.
