Today's Favorite Verse: Doctrine & Covenants 114:1
"Verily thus saith the Lord: It is wisdom in my servant David W. Patten, that he settle up all his business as soon as he possibly can, and make a disposition of his merchandise, that he may perform a mission unto me next spring, in company with others, even twelve including himself, to testify of my name and bear glad tidings unto all the world."
This is such an interesting revelation and story. David W. Pattern was told to settle up all his affairs in order to serve a mission. He did as he was commanded and six months later he died, the first martyr for the church. It does make me wonder if he knew the Lord meant the mission he would serve was on the other side of the veil. Words given by inspiration can have such an exact meaning. I received my patriarchal blessing at the age of 14. I had no idea then that the part of my days being extended would literally mean I would have a near death experience at the age of 29, and am now living that extension. Sometimes we don't understand the exact meaning at the time, but it's important to follow the counsel that comes with it.
