Today's Favorite Verse: 1 Kings 1:9-10, 34
"And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants:
But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.
And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon."
It's interesting that Adonijah that exalted himself to be king, neglected to include the very brother that was to be made king, along with the priests and prophet to anoint Him. That was not a coincidence. His neglect allowed others to intercede on Solomon's behalf and remind king David of his promise and the Lord's will in the matter. David was then able to instruct them to make it so. While Adonijah was celebrating himself as king, his brother Solomon was anointed and announced with authority.
