Today's Favorite Verse: Alma 32:6
"And now when Alma heard this, he turned him about, his face immediately towards him, and he beheld with great joy; for he beheld that their afflictions had truly humbled them, and that they were in a preparation to hear the word."
This made me think of the increased disasters we are seeing. I knew they were a warning voice, but I guess I didn't grasp what the purpose is. God isn't out to destroy us, he's trying to gather us to Him. If we will not listen to His servants, then he will preach his own sermons by the forces of nature. The Lord brings about circumstances that will prepare souls to hear the word. Yes, some do turn against God in their trials, and that is sad. But, really it's an opportunity to humble themselves and turn to Him.
"O, ye nations of the earth, how often would I have gathered you together as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, but ye would not!
How oft have I called upon you by the mouth of my servants, and by the ministering of angels, and by mine own voice, and by the voice of thunderings, and by the voice of lightnings, and by the voice of tempests, and by the voice of earthquakes, and great hailstorms, and by the voice of famines and pestilences of every kind, and by the great sound of a trump, and by the voice of judgment, and by the voice of mercy all the day long, and by the voice of glory and honor and the riches of eternal life, and would have saved you with an everlasting salvation, but ye would not!"
