Today's Favorite Verse: Numbers 12:3
"(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
Moses' siblings Aaron and Miriam speak out against Moses and the Lord was angry with them. Miriam is made leprous for a week. What I noticed in this was a description of Moses I had not thought about. He was meek. It was this meekness that made Moses the chosen prophet of the Lord. I found some good quotes on this.
"As we come unto and follow the Savior, we increasingly and incrementally are enabled to become more like Him. We are empowered by the Spirit with disciplined self-restraint and a settled and calm demeanor. Thus, meek is what we become as disciples of the Master and not just something we do.“Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.” Yet he “was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.” His knowledge and competence could have caused him to be prideful. Instead, the attribute and spiritual gift of meekness with which he was blessed attenuated arrogance in his life and magnified Moses as an instrument to accomplish God’s purposes."

"As the Lord communicates with the meek and submissive, fewer decibels are required, and more nuances are received. Even the most meek, like Moses learn overwhelming things they “never had supposed.” (Moses 1:10) But it is only the meek mind which can be so shown and so stretched—not those, as Isaiah wrote, who “are wise in their own eyes.” (Isa. 5:21 see also 2 Ne. 9:29 and 2 Ne. 15:21)

"Reflective of our total progression, repentance is not solely for renouncing transgression. For instance, Moses was a righteous and remarkable man. Nevertheless, he needed to change his leadership style for his welfare as well as the people’s. Moses succeeded because he was the most meek man upon the face of the earth. Blessed are the meek, for they are neither easily offended by counsel nor aggravated by admonition. If we were more meek, brothers and sisters, repentance would be much more regular and less stared at."
